Floyd and Hazel Akers of Quincy will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner, hosted by their children.
Mr. Akers and the former Hazel Sanders were married April 30, 1949, in Liberty.
Mrs. Akers is a daughter of the late William and Fern Evans Sanders. Mr. Akers is a son of the late Irvin and Ethel Frey Akers.
They are the parents of Barbara Plunk of Rushville, Janet Landwehr of Quincy and Sheree Lansing of Beverly Hills, Fla. They have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Akers is an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in Japan and Korea. He worked in the research lab at Gardner-Denver Co. for 12 years, and retired as the engineering lab supervisor from Coltec, formerly Quincy Compressor, in 1992 after 25 years of employment.
Mrs. Akers was a hairstylist for 13 years and then a bookkeeper at Kmart, retiring after 20 years in 1991.
