Quincy Junior High School Director of Counseling Renea Yates has been awarded a Ph.D. in educational psychology and special education with an emphasis in human learning and development from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. Yates' dissertation, titled "Locus of Control and Academic Achievement: A Study of Gender and Grade Level Differences Among At-Risk Youth," examined differences in both locus of control orientation and academic achievement between males and females across three grade levels in a sample of at-risk students.
