Tom (QHS class of 1948) and Lavon Jewell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 7, 2006. Their three daughters planned a family celebration at East Lake Country Club in Oldsmar, FL. Attending were Lavon's sister, her 95 year-old mother, Tom's brothers, Bob and Fred, and seven grandchildren.

Also, Tom had his fifth hole-in-one in Sarasota, FL on March 4, 2006 at Laurel Oaks Country Club in a mixed member-guest tournament. Herman Hokamp (QHS class of 1949), his wife, Susan, and Tom's wife, Lavon, were all witnesses to the shot. The team finished second in the tournament.
