Former QHS Keeper Starting as EIU Freshman

The Quincy-to-Eastern Illinois University women's soccer pipeline is alive and well.

Quincy High School product Jenny Williams is the Panthers' starting keeper as a freshman this fall, becoming the sixth Gem City player to migrate to the Charleston school.

"Quincy players are always hard workers," EIU coach Tim Nowak told the EIU campus newspaper, The Daily Eastern News. "They appreciate the opportunity to play."

Williams is making the most of her opportunity. She's played the majority of the minutes in goal for the Panthers (2-5-1) during their pre-Ohio Valley Conference schedule. Williams has a 1.76 goals-against average, making six starts in seven appearances. She has 28 saves on the season.

Williams is coming off a head injury suffered in a game against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 8. She missed one game because of the injury.

Williams joins Beth Liesen, an EIU assistant coach, Kim Genenbacher, Audra Frericks, Morgan Frericks and Kim Garkie on the list of Quincy players who have played at EIU.
